I learned more about weapon lubricants in my time at Marine Corps Systems Command while doing weapons tests and being part of a RCA (Root Cause Analysis). What I tell everyone from testing and understanding what is in our issued lubricants and what you can buy at the PX is - that stuff will never touch one of my personal firearms. What I would recommend is this stuff Vidarr has. Once you understand the science behind what they offer, you’ll never go back to CLP. If you shoot a lot, care about your investments, and want to prolong the life of your guns you’ll look into this. Do what I did; I lubed up one gun with CLP and one with Gun Damp for a year. I could tell the difference after the first day, but the one with Gun Damp I went 6 months without reapplying. Same make/model and same round counts. Then switched and had the same effects.
I applied Gun Damp weeks ago and go to the range every week for the most part. Surprisingly enough, my Glock 49 still works like a charm, no cleaning or re-application has been needed since.
